do you know how many stages are there in the life cycle of the silk moth. there are total five stages in the life cycle of the silk moth from egg to adult silk moth. this picture indicates the life cycle of the silk moth. the first stage of this life cycle is the female silk moth lays eggs on the mulberry leaves at approximately 300 at time. usually the eggs are in white colour. the second stage is the eggs are turned into silk worms or larvaes which feed on the mulberry leaves until they grow bigger and bigger. the third stages it will form a form cocoon is like a thread like structure which protects them from high wind and help them everyday. the 4th stage is after 15 to 30 days the inside silkworm turns into a pupa and the colour of the cocoon changes into yellow or Orange colour. and the final stages it becomes a adult silk moth which lays eggs on the mulberry leaves and the project continuous day by day. now you may get a question how do you collect silk from their cocoons. first of all the cocoons are boiled in hot water and the silk is removed to make sarees etc thank you very much.
